DIANE REID - BIOGRAPHY
ARTIST STATEMENT
My work is a reinterpretation of traditional ceramic form, the vessel or the figure being used as a point of departure rather than as an end result.
Porcelain clay with additions of fine paper fibres enable me to work in an erratic and non-linear manner, building and rebuilding in sections. Cutting apart and patching forms together I am reminded of the sculptor Louise Bourgeois' statement - 'I do, I undo, I redo.'
This creation of a finished form by assembling and reassembling can be seen as a metaphor for the remaking of experience.
